HARDFACING

Hardfacing is the application of a hard, wear resistant material to substrates by welding, metalspraying/thermalspraying or similar processes.

The main purpose of hard facing is the reduction of wear or loss of metal by abrasion, impact, erosion, galling and cavitation.

Due to the severity of the wear usually associated with hardfacing applications the materials used similarly have to be hard wearing and include tungsten, cobalt, stellite®, nickel chrome carbide, tungsten chip the majority of which are stocked by MSSA Interweld in various forms; wire, powder, oxy-rod and arc electrodes.
